1997 to 2004: domain and shock-link era

IANA records that .cx was delegated in 1997. Archived captures place Goatse.cx online by 1999, using a small set of static routes and images that became widely shared through links, inline embeds, mirrors, and remixes.

The Goatse.cx registration was suspended in January 2004 after a complaint. The reference continued through downloaded copies, forums, later reporting, archives, and derivative visual language. Goat.cx remained a separate domain name.

2023 to early 2024: synthetic mythology

Infinite Backrooms experiments connected language models in extended conversations. Among the generated themes was an exaggerated Gospel that transformed old internet material into recursive religious and philosophical fiction.

These transcripts were artifacts produced inside a designed experiment, not an ancient canon and not a token launch. Human choices about models, prompts, selection, publication, and interpretation remained part of the process.

The complete sequence in four eras

  1. The early-web artifact, AI experiment, public persona, and token market occurred in separate eras.

  2. The Bitcoin grant funded Truth Terminal before GOAT existed.

  3. A human deployed GOAT; the agent later amplified the narrative around that asset.

Mid-2024: Truth Terminal and Bitcoin funding

Andy Ayrey developed the public Truth Terminal persona from the surrounding research and context. In July 2024, Marc Andreessen sent a Bitcoin grant worth roughly $50,000 to support the experiment.

That grant preceded GOAT by months. It funded an AI-mediated project; it was not an investment in a Solana token that did not yet exist. Bitcoin funding and later GOAT trading belong to separate transactions and networks.

October 2024 onward: permissionless token market

An anonymous human used Pump.fun to deploy Goatseus Maximus on Solana on October 10, 2024. Truth Terminal later acknowledged and promoted the narrative around the asset, helping connect the established persona with one specific mint.

GOAT does not confer ownership of Truth Terminal, the old domains, the Gospel, or Andy Ayrey's work. It is a tradable cultural token whose price and liquidity are market facts separate from the historical lineage that gives it meaning.

Timeline and sequence-of-events questions

Which came first, Truth Terminal or the GOAT token?

Truth Terminal was public and had received Bitcoin funding before an anonymous human launched GOAT in October 2024.

Did Infinite Backrooms deploy a cryptocurrency?

No. It produced model-conversation transcripts. The token deployment was a later human action through Pump.fun.

What connects the early site to the token?

Cultural lineage and synthetic lore connect them. They do not share an issuer, technical system, or holder rights.
